The Tsarina's Daughter by Carolly Erickson

This work of fiction is a heart breaking love story of the Grand Duchess Tatiana , daughter of the Russian Tsar Nicholas II and Tsarina Alexandra. Tatiana lives a life of absolute luxury in pre-revolutionary Russia and is related to royal families throughout Europe and England. She manages to frequently visit the slums of Smokestack Town with Avdokia the milk woman. The book acknowledges the superstitions , occult healers ,seers , weeping icons , and the visions that are part of Tatiana's world. War breaks out and the family is imprisoned in harsh Siberia. Tatiana falls in love with a injured soldier she nurses to health. Together they plan a daring rescue to escape the ultimate fate of the entire imperial Romanvo family The Romanvos were executed in 1918. Was Tatiana executed with her family or did someone else take her place??
This is a dramatic and powerful book that provides a glimpse of Russia in the time of the Tsars.
