The Sign by Raymond Khoury

The Sign concerns mixing politics and religion to control the world. The book highlights global warming and emphasizes not only how we treat the world, but also how we behave toward one another.
A TV reporter, Gracie Logan, reports on the "Sign" and Father Jermone. Gracie crosses paths with Matt Sherwood who is searching for his missing brother. The characters include an evangelist preacher and a billionaire. It's shocking what people will do to be in control.
The Sign is a page turner which reminds us how we choose to behave that matters. We make our own fate every single day. We need to look after each other , the land and the air we breathe. Each and every one of us need to accept that responsibility. This book encourages reflection on our lives.
The Sign is a thought provoking book and a must read!!!

The Scarecrow by Michael Connelly

Michael Connelly is one of my favorite authors. Scarecrow is an internet security business. The book concerns the crashing newspaper economy and the shift of society to the internet for news and advertising.
Jack McEnvoy,a veteran crime reporter for the Los Angeles Times, is laid off and has one last story to write. Jack is antiquated and assigned internet savy reporter Angela Cook.
Jack connects a L.A. trunk murder with an earlier similar murder. FBI special agent and profiler Rachel Walling is asked to resign because of Jack and his investigation. The killer uses the internet to track Jack and has complete knowledge of every move Jack makes. Jack uses years of knowledge as a crime reporter to seek the killer.
Who is the scarecrow and what is the motivation??? Is too much of our lives available on the internet????

Dead Silence has diverse characters that entice you to read more and more.
Will Chaser,a different 14 year old boy , is a resourceful and defiant Native American who is abducted. Doc Ford , who wants to keep his past secret , hunts for Will. The U.S. government has Fidel Castro's secret documents and 500 million in gems , gold , and collectibles. A Cuban interrogator with special skills commits terrifying acts to find Castro's files.
How is a wealthy American , who is a member of Yale's Skull and Bones, involved??
Gus Gutterson , a Vietnam POW, is Will's foster grandparent. Does Geronimo and Gutterson's advice help Will to survive?? This unusual plot fits together brilliantly and is a suprising good read.
